Mahatma Yogeshwar Saraswati Inter College

Building Infrastructure and supporting education of children of poor residents of Mussorie, Uttarakhand, India

Excelling in extracurricular activities has become second nature for students of this school. EduCare has been receiving pictures and newspaper cuttings of their wins in debates, sports and other competitions almost on a monthly basis.

The school is operated by a nonprofit society called Shri Gandhi Niwas which was established in 1932 on occasion of Mahatma Gandhi visit to the famous hill resort Mussoorie. This school was started to educate children of poor residents of the town and nearby villages. Currently the project to construct a 12,000 square feet new school building at estimated cost of $300,000 is in progress and about 60% complete. A significant part of the seed money for this project has been provided by EduCare from restricted funds donated by Pawan Jain.

Educare has also supported a scholarship program at this school for more than 15 years with number of scholarships steadily increasing to 60. A number of other programs benefitting the entire student body of 400 co-ed children have also been funded through these years. These included funds for computer hardware, furniture and miscellaneous items.
