Ms. EduCare Judges
Dr. Barbara Velazquez earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Seton Hall University in 1999. She has a private practice in Maplewood, NJ, University and the College of St. Elizabeth.
Dr. Velazquez is a Trustee of the South Orange Maplewood Community Coalition on Race. In this role she organized the First Annual Cultural Heritage Festival in 2014 as an expression of the Coalition’s dedication to promoting intentional inclusion of all races and ethnic groups.
Dr. Velazquez founded the Taskforce for Humanity Coalition, (THC) aimed at bringing together like-minded people and organizations to help create a better world. The THC organized the “Visions of a Better World Conference” held at Seton Hall University in 2009. She started the Kindness Campaign of NJ in 2011.
Dr. Velazquez is Vice President of the Northern NJ Theosophical Study Center. She is a metaphysician and teacher of the Ageless Wisdom tradition. From 2010-2014 she served as a correspondence instructor for the Arcane School. She has been asked to be a panelist at the Arcane School’s 2010 Conference, at the “Community Peace Building Conference” on UN Peace Day 2008 as well as at other metaphysical gatherings.
Jaimie Julia Winters is the Editor of the South Bergenite – a Rutherford based newspaper covering southern Bergen County and named as the New Jersey Press Association’s “Best Community Newspaper in New Jersey.”
Her writing and editing skills have garnered over seventy awards for news and editorial writing as well as newspaper layout and design from the Society of Professional Journalists and New Jersey Press Association including dozens of First Place honors.
Jaimie was recently honored with the Mayor’s Commendation recognizing her ten years of service as the President of Meadowlands Museum. She currently runs the Interfaith Education programming at the First Presbyterian Church in Rutherford and just spent Thanksgiving Day feeding the homeless and delivering dinners to the elderly and home bound.
A graduate of North Carolina State University, Jaimie went on to teach Advanced Journalism at Ramapo College and worked for CBS TV News, Home Box Office and as a public advocate lobbying Congress for Women’s Rights and helping write bills on stalking and homeless issues before settling in Rutherford to raise her family and pursue her hobby of beekeeping.
While raising two sons, Brandon and Rodney, now 25 and 20, she traveled extensively with her young family visiting China, Turkey, Belize, Guatemala, Egypt, Kenya and the Galapagos Islands among other exotic places.
Nisha Mathur is the creative producer and host of TV Asia's exclusive presentation "Shades of Shakti". She is a popular TV Host who connects with audiences with her compassion and powerful presentation skills.
Prior to her project with TV Asia, Nisha was a Co-Anchor of the Asian Variety Show. This brisk entertainment news program with international appeal reaches audiences throughout the world.
Nisha strives to use the series Shades of Shakti to inspire and celebrate South Asian women. Rather than delving into the typical plot lines of TV, Nisha wishes to spotlight REAL women who have used their inner strength (shakti) to move forward in life.
“Shades of Shakti” is a refreshing and relatable series that will support women and make them realize they aren't alone.
Nisha has proven to be a force in all areas of her career as a host, author, spokesperson and actress. She has been afforded the opportunity to interview many top directors, actors and musicians, and other prominent personalities.
Nisha is the author of the book “My Mango Tango”, a memoir of her cross cultural experiences as an Indian growing up in the US.
