    Essay Contest 2012

    ​

    The 2012 Essay Contest was held in partnership with the "Maplweood is Kind" campaign of the Task Force for Humanity Coalition, Maplewood, NJ, during April, 2012.  It was organized by the Columbia High School Language Arts Department for ninth graders around the theme of human behavior.  The assignment was to answer the questions: What is the most powerful motivator of one’s actions?

    The three winners were recognized by Mr. Victor DeLuca, Mayor of Maplewood in the Town Council meeting on July 17, 2012.  The contest winners were:

    First Prize: Nyeshia Norris
    Second Prize: Sofia Gouin
    Second Prize:  Elizabeth Barreiro

    Essay Contest 2013

    ​

    The 2013 Essay Contest was held in partnership with the Task Force for Humanity Coalition during June, 2013 at St. Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, NJ.  The assignment was to answer the question: Paying it forward with kindness .

     

    The contest winners were:

    First Prize: Vanessa Fragiacomo
    Second Prize: Ranisha Frejuste
    Second Prize: Tara Lenahan

    Educare Luncheon 2011

    ​

    Educare Luncheon is an annual tradition of bringing volunteers and donors together to share information and progress of  Educare's programs, to recognize the volunteers, and to appreciate its donors.

    ​

    The 2011 luncheon was held on at Rasoi Restaurant in East Brunswick, NJ.

    ​Essay Contest 2009

       With a view to instill a culture of compassion of Giving among our youth as well as involve them in shaping and improving our world, Educare sponsored an essay contest among high school students in New Jersey, as a part of the “Vision of a Better World Conference’ organized by the Task Force for Humanity Coalition, Maplewood, NJ, on October 10, 2009 in the Seton Hall University.  The subject was ‘What is your vision of a Better World/Community?”  23 essays were received.  There was a tie for the second prize. Contest winners were as follows:

    First Prize: JInah Rhee, Ridgewood High School, NJ
    Second Prize: Betty Liu, High Tech High School, NJ
                           Cara Beirne, Ridgewood High School, NJ
